Senior Matters Expo is a unique, multi-generational event that brings high school seniors and the “seniors of life” together for purposes of education and services.
Since 2015, Senior Matters Expo has provided information services to people 55 + and provided information and scholarships to high school seniors.
Senior Matters is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to award scholarships, provide education on services and products to these age groups and to provide a venue in which they can interact.
Some of the service industries that are invited to exhibit include: home health and hospice companies, colleges, community health services, medical equipment providers, party planning, athletics, rehabilitative services, insurance, and many, many others.
An additional aspect of the EXPO, which highlights the services available to these age groups, is that it also serves as a community blood drive for the American Red Cross. Since 2015, 117 units of blood have been donated at the Senior Matters Expo events. That blood is used to save lives in our community.
Finally, Senior Matters provides local students with the opportunity to qualify for a $500 scholarship to help offset some of the staggering costs of higher education. It is an unencumbered scholarship. The student can use the money for any school-related expense such as books, tuition or housing, all for just attending and participating.
Since the inception of the Senior Matters Expo, $23,000
has been donated and distributed to our local high school seniors. Students from 15 different area high schools attended the 4th Annual Senior Matters EXPO.
100% of our sponsorship money is used as scholarships. The event is breakeven and self-sustaining. Personal donations are tax deductible, and in-kind letters for corporate donations are available.
